Louis XIV was called the Sun King because, like the sun, he was considered the center of the universe around which all things revolved. He believed in the divine right of kings and saw himself as the source of light and power for his kingdom. Louis XIV, the Sun King, had several sources of power. Firstly, he had absolute monarchy, which meant that he had complete control over the government and the people. He also had the support of the nobility, as he effectively centralized power around himself and his court at the Palace of Versailles. Additionally, Louis XIV had a strong military, which he used to expand and defend his territory. Finally, he had the support of the Catholic Church, which helped to legitimize his rule and maintain social order. **
